There was 2 things happened today, but I will tell only the confirmed story. My senior told me that my TL was looking for me and I went to meet him. The secretary said he was busy and asked me to wait until he finish his telephone discussion. After 5 minutes, I met him and he started give some hints of his attention. My TL is a softspoken and approachable person, I know he tried the best to arrange the words so that I won't feel degraded or had unpleasant perception about him. I promptly could smell that he want to tell me that I will be transferrred from "Design Section" to "Project Support @ Planning Section". I let him finish talking (it's not nice to interrupt your boss anyway), and he seemed like lost how to arrange the words.
After few pauses, I said," I can understand their piling workloads and I'm more than happy to help them". I could see a relief from my TL after hearing the "consent" from me. To cut the story short, the paper been signed and I been asked to arrange with IT section to move the computer stuffs and be in the new office next Sunday.
Even my passion is in design, I look at this matter in bright side. Firstly there's only typical small projects which do not has much added value on my CV. So, it's not much of use to stay in design. I actually spend most of my time to standardise the contract documents rather than focusing of optimised design structures. Most of my freetime spend to explore the downloaded technical calculations or develope a speadsheet. Without guide from proven competent seniors, the selflearnign don't bring you much further. The biggest advantage being in planning is I could directly liaise with our group big guns, and prove how much my value worth. Not to mean that I'm a guru in handling issues but I am strongly believe if could ease process much. I also hope that I could have ample time to continue technical study and add knowledge in planning especially how to use microsoft projects or Primavera. I also wish it could be a door to step into financial world or upper project management. May this be a light at the end of tunnel for more brighter future.
